Time to unwind, relax, eat drink and soak up the sun.

Located in a quiet, rural area, Trullo Fedelle is a peaceful, relaxing retreat but for those also wishing to experience traditional southern Italian life, there is also much to see and do in the surrounding area that will appeal to all ages.

The Banana Club swimming pool - 2km from Trullo Fedelle

Five minutes from our trullo is a beautiful heated outdoor swimming pool (The Banana Club), surrounded by a grassed seating area and palm trees. There is also a restaurant, bar, football pitch and children's play area.

Costa Merlata

The nearest beaches are around 30–40 minutes drive away on the sparkling azure Adriatic coast. You'll find coves that are perfect for snorkelling as well as long stretches of golden sandy beaches. Our favourite is Torre Guaceto, a nature reserve with a long sandy beach and a shallow “lagoon” area, perfect for small children to swim in. Other favourites include Costa Merlata, where there is a restaurant close to the beach that sells freshly barbequed seafood and meat. The Ionian coast is also within easy drive and is well worth exploring.

Ceglie Messapica-town square

The local town of Ceglie Messapica is about 5 minutes drive away with its charming whitewashed houses and winding cobbled streets. It is one of the most ancient centres in Puglia with an impressive Baroque-style church.
Saturday is market day. This lively, bustling market sells everything from fish, cheese, meat, fruit and vegetables to clothes, shoes and home wares. There are also many small artisan shops selling cheese, bread, fresh pasta, meat and fish as well as several supermarkets and clothes shops.

Ceglie is known as a "gastronomic centre". There are numerous excellent and reasonably priced restaurants serving locally produced, seasonal foods and excellent wines (Negroamoro or Primitivo). There is a list of recommended local restaurants at the trullo.

Lecce

Ostuni

The historic towns of Martina Franca, Cisternino, Alberobello (“trullo city”) and Lecce ("Florence of the South") are well worth a visit with their mix of Baroque, Romanesque and Byzantine architecture, bustling markets and interesting shops. Ostuni ("Citta Bianca" or white city) with its impressive ancient fortified centre is a must, especially in August with the Cavilcade Cavalli religious carnival.

Monopoli

Take a wander around the beautiful coastal towns of Monopoli and Poligniano a Mare; if you go to the latter ask for an 'espresso speciale', an iced coffee, Amaro (a dark liqueur) and a slice of lemon zest – perfect after an afternoon of sightseeing or sunbathing.

Ceramic shop - Grottaglie

Also worth visiting is Grottaglie, one of the best artisan ceramic centres in Italy; the impressive network of caves at Castelano Grotte, well worth the guided tour; Matera with its ancient troglodyte caves; and Roman ruins at Egnazia. There is also horse riding, golf and even a safari theme park not far away in Fasano!
